On March 4th, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC), successfully signed contracts with South Korean companies Namsung Shipping and Dongyoung Shipping for the construction of two 4300TEU and two 1900TEU container ships. This signing marks another significant achievement for Huangpu Wenchong in gaining recognition from major East Asian shipowners for its high-quality ship designs and reliable performance, further solidifying its market expansion.
The 4,300 TEU container ship signed in this time was developed and designed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), which is a dedicated high-efficiency container ship for ocean voyages. This vessel type has the comprehensive capacity to carry general containers, refrigerated containers, and dangerous goods containers within the specified specifications, meeting the TIER III ME with HPSCR design requirements. The ship was designed with forward-looking provisions for methanol, LNG, and ammonia fuel classification, possessing excellent green and energy-saving performance, which will help significantly reduce operating costs and improve economic efficiency and market competitiveness.
The 1900TEU container ship is a star vessel in the “SWAN” series independently developed by Huangpu Wenchong. It has complete independent intellectual property rights, low energy consumption, high container load rate, and flexible operation, which makes it popular with ship owners around the world and the preferred choice for near-ocean feeder shipping.
It is worth noting that this signing marks the first collaboration between Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding and NAMSUNG and DONGYOUNG, representing a significant milestone in deepening cooperation with South Korean shipping companies.
