Ernst Russ Expands MPP Fleet with Acquisition of Two 12,500 DWT Vessels on Long-Term Charter

Listed shipbuilder Ernst Russ announced that it is gradually expanding its market presence in the multi-purpose vessel sector by acquiring the 12,500 DWT multi-purpose vessels “Ronnie” and “Charlie”, which are already under long-term charter contracts.

Both the “Ronnie” and “Charlie” are currently chartered by dship Carriers, and the vessels are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2026.

Both vessels are F500 multi-purpose vessels, built in 2021 and 2022 respectively. They are equipped with two cranes capable of lifting 500 tons of cargo together and are designed to handle project cargo, heavy cargo, as well as bulk and general cargo.

Ernst Russ stated that the acquisition is an important part of its long-term fleet strategy, enhancing revenue predictability by ensuring vessel chartering. The acquisition of two new multi-purpose vessels will not only reduce the average age of the fleet but also expand the company’s business beyond its core container shipping operations.

Currently, Ernst Russ owns 25 vessels, mainly feeder container ships and medium-sized container ships, as well as 2 handysize bulk carriers and 1 multipurpose vessel, and holds orders for 2 2280TEU feeder container ships.
