On February 26, Zhoushan Changhong International held a keel-laying ceremony at Dock #1 for two 10,300 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships (Hull Nos.: CHB2041/CHB2042) constructed for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). This marks the project’s official entry into the slipway construction phase.

It is understood that this project is a new generation of green 10,000 TEU-class vessel jointly developed by CIMC Ocean Engineering Design & Research Institute (CIMC ORIC) and Zhoushan Changhong International.
The vessel not only adopts an LNG dual-fuel main engine and generator design, but also proactively meets the ammonia and methanol readiness requirements, paving the way for future carbon-neutral shipping. The vessel features optimized hull lines, adaptable to multi-target routes, and boasts core specifications such as high speed and low fuel consumption. Equipped with the largest Type-C LNG fuel tank in its class, it can meet the round-trip needs of China-Europe and China-US routes in either LNG or fuel oil mode, offering leading operational flexibility.
The project covers a total of 10 vessels, with an overall length of nearly 300 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, a design speed of 20 knots, and classification by Lloyd’s Register. Currently, Zhoushan Changhong International is capitalizing on the peak construction period during the Spring Festival, optimizing workflows and implementing scientific scheduling to ensure all ongoing projects advance with high quality and efficiency.
