On January 18, Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, delivered the third new-generation 66,000 DWT Supramax bulk carrier “UBON NAREE” to a Singaporean shipowner. The vessel departed the shipyard’s berth, commencing its maiden voyage and entering service.
This vessel is the first of a new generation of Supramax bulk carriers designed and upgraded by Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding based on the MES-S design. It features a wide-body, shallow draft hull and complies with Tier III and EEDI Phase III standards.
It is understood that the construction period for the “UBON NAREE” vessel was approximately 10 months. The vessel commenced batch construction in late March 2025 and successfully completed sea trials in early December, with all test results exceeding the original design specifications. On January 15, 2026, the “UBON NAREE” was delivered via electronic signature.
