On December 26, 2025, China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Nanjing Shipyard successfully launched the SC Shipping 25900-4 stainless steel chemical tanker. Representatives of the shipowner, surveyors from the classification society, and all construction personnel attended the ceremony.

The 25900-4 vessel launched marks the second vessel of the same class successfully launched by China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Nanjing Shipyard under its renewed identity, following the naming and delivery of the first vessel, the “SC EMERALD”, on December 20. TThe successful launch of this vessel is a vivid demonstration of the efficient operation of the production system and the continuous improvement of the construction capabilities of Nanjing Shipyard after its restructuring.
On December 20, the unveiling ceremony of China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Nanjing Shipyard (full name “China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group Nanjing Shipyard Co., Ltd.”) and the naming and delivery ceremony of a 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker were successfully held, marking that China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Nanjing Shipyard has achieved “restructuring, production and delivery in the same year” and has officially integrated into the China Merchants Shipbuilding system with a brand-new identity.

Nanjing Dongze Shipbuilding was established in March 2005, primarily engaged in shipbuilding. Subsequently, due to operational reasons, the company leased out its factory premises, equipment, harbor basin, land, and related ancillary facilities located at No. 2 Jiangbian Road, Dapeng Village, Longtan Subdistrict, Qixia District, Nanjing City.
On March 26, 2025, the Qixia District People’s Court filed a case to review the debtor Dongze Shipbuilding’s application for bankruptcy reorganization, and on the same day designated Beijing Dacheng Law Offices as the administrator of Dongze Shipbuilding.
In July of the same year, the administrator of Nanjing Dongze Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. issued the “Announcement on Recruiting Reorganization Investors of Nanjing Dongze Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.”, officially launching the bankruptcy reorganization procedure of the shipyard. In November, China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group completed its restructuring investment in Nanjing Dongze.
It is understood that the China Merchants Shipbuilding Nanjing Shipyard enjoys a superior geographical location, adjacent to Longtan Port and on the south bank of the main channel of the Yangtze River. It covers an area of approximately 300,000 square meters, with a 1-kilometer shoreline and ample water depth at the wharf. Upstream and downstream, there are anchorages for oil tankers in Yizheng and for joint inspections in Nanjing Port, with open waters in the anchorages.
China Merchants Shipbuilding Nanjing Shipyard possesses two 50,000-ton wide-body slipways, each equipped with one 200-ton and one 150-ton gantry crane. It has constructed one deep-water dry dock, along with shipbuilding workshops including steel processing, block fabrication, and coating facilities, as well as other supporting buildings and infrastructure, capable of meeting the construction requirements for its primary vessel types. Furthermore, the site of China Merchants Shipbuilding Nanjing Shipyard is not yet fully utilized, indicating potential for future development.
According to China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry, standing at a new starting point, China Merchants Shipbuilding Nanjing Shipyard will comprehensively enhance its core competitiveness. While maintaining its sustained leadership in the sub-sectors of small and medium-sized chemical tankers and gas carriers, the shipyard will strive to achieve domestic leading standards in efficiency, quality, and profitability.
