New Dayang Shipyard Wins Order for Two 3,100 TEU Boxships from Greek Owner

MB Shipbrokers reports that Greek ship management company Cape Shipping has selected New Dayang Shipyard to construct two 3,100 TEU container vessels. Each vessel is valued at approximately 4 million to $45 million, with deliveries expected to commence in the second quarter of 2028.

According to its official website, Cape Shipping was established in 1987 and currently operates a fleet of 16 vessels, comprising 5 bulk carriers and 11 container ships. Since 2024, the shipowner has placed orders for tankers with several Chinese shipyards, with delivery scheduled around 2027.

Should Cape Shipping’s order be confirmed, it will mark the first collaboration between the shipowner and New Dayang Shipyard.

Since the beginning of this year, New Dayang Shipyard has secured orders for nearly 10 new vessels in the small-to-medium container vessel market. In addition to the above two vessels, it has also received orders for two 3,100 TEU container vessels from Monaco-based Transocean Maritime, two 1,100 TEU container vessels from Jinjiang Shipping, and two 1,100 TEU container vessels from Shanghai Minsheng Shipping.
