On October 13, China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding signed the delivery contract for the 174,000 cbm large LNG carrier Green Energy Star, built for CNOOC. GreenEnergy Star is the third LNG carrier in the “Green Energy” series delivered by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, bringing the company’s total LNG carrier deliveries to 53 vessels.

GreenEnergy Star, a fifth-generation “Changheng” series LNG carrier independently designed, developed, and built by Hudong-Zhonghua, is 299 meters in length, 46.4 meters in width and 26.25 meters in depth. Featuring the latest twin-skeg lines and equipped with numerous low-carbon and digital technologies and equipment, it integrates the latest design concepts, the most advanced technology and equipment, and the highest environmental performance. It is classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the China Classification Society (CCS).

It is understood that Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding adheres to the principle of green energy and emission reduction, achieving independent breakthroughs in a series of key technologies, including integrated energy-saving equipment for ships and the localization of liquid cargo systems.

The delivery of the GreenEnergy Star marks the expansion of CNOOC’s Green Energy fleet. Together with the previously delivered GreenEnergy Ocean and Green Energy Pearl, it will form a vital force in China’s domestically developed LNG transportation capabilities.
