New Yangzi Shipbuilding Delivers 8,000 TEU KMTC MOMBASA Ahead of Schedule

On September 30, the second 8,000 TEU container vessel “KMTC MOMBASA” — constructed by Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding (a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group) for Lepta Shipping — departed the shipyard’s dock and was officially delivered for operational service.

Construction of the vessel commenced in mid-September 2024. It was laid keel for outfitting in mid-March 2025, launched in late June, and successfully completed sea trials in early September, with all test results meeting design specifications.

On September 22, the naming ceremony for the KMTC MOMBASA was held alongside that of its sister vessel, the KMTC DAMMAM. On the morning of September 30, the vessel KMTC MOMBASA was successfully delivered via electronic signature.
