On September 28, Daishan Changhong International launched the first 115,000 DWT crude oil tanker, which was built for VIRONO MARITIME S.A. of Greece. The vessel has successfully completed all construction milestones in the dry dock and will now move on to the new phase of outfitting and equipment commissioning at the wharf.
The vessel has an overall length of 249.9 meters, a length between perpendiculars of 245.5 meters, a beam of 44 meters, a depth of 21.5 meters, a structural draft of 15.2 meters, a maximum deadweight of 115,000 tons, and a cargo hold volume of 132,000 cubic meters. It can carry approximately 830,000 barrels of crude oil or product oil.
The hull features an upright bow design that balances high-speed performance under both design and structural draft conditions, significantly reducing overall fuel consumption. The propulsion system incorporates a 6G60ME main engine paired with a large-diameter propeller, integrated with anti-vortex fins and energy-saving ducts to enhance propulsion efficiency and carbon emission control.
The successful launch of this vessel not only demonstrates Changhong International’s robust technical capabilities but also lays a solid foundation for establishing standardized production processes and achieving mass shipbuilding. Moving forward, Daishan Changhong Shipbuilding will take this launch as a new starting point to continuously refine construction techniques, strictly control product quality, and contribute greater strength toward realizing the company’s ambitious strategic goals.
