On September 23, Zhejiang New Xinzhou Shipbuilding’s “Smart Factory Construction Project” received approval from the Development and Reform Bureau of Sanmen County, Taizhou City. This marks the imminent commencement of Phase II of the company’s 300,000-deadweight-ton capacity expansion project, laying a solid foundation for enhancing competitiveness in high-end liquid cargo ships and smart ships.
According to the public notice of the approval items, the project has a total investment of RMB 1 billion (approximately US$140 million), with construction scheduled to commence in December 2025 and completion targeted for June 2027.
The project is located in Pubagang Town, Sanmen County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. The planned land area is 241,975.8 square meters, and the building area is 91,067 square meters. The new production workshop No.2 covers an area of 3,355.2 square meters, the production workshop No.3 covers an area of 16,696.73 square meters, the R&D workshop covers an area of 3,024 square meters, and the water-permeable building area is 88,426.76 square meters.
It is reported that in 2025, New Xinzhou Shipbuilding Group launched a 300,000 deadweight ton expansion project – the technological upgrade of Zhejiang Xin’ou Shipbuilding into an smart factory. Phase I planning involves expanding the 223 Mu factory site with an investment of RMB 500 million.
The project aims to build 5,700 TEU energy-efficient container ships and prepare for the first 88,000 cubic meter ultra-large LPG carrier, while can commence construction the first 25,900 DWT eco-friendly duplex stainless steel chemical tanker, utilizing patented duplex stainless steel technology to reduce fuel consumption by over 30% compared to traditional vessels. Once these projects are put into production, it is expected that annual sales revenue will increase by RMB 800 million and profits and taxes will grow by more than RMB 30 million.
According to public records, Zhejiang Xin’ou Shipbuilding is a subsidiary of the New Xinzhou Shipbuilding Group. Established on September 26, 2024, its primary business scope includes shipbuilding, ship repair, and ship dismantling.
Zhejiang New Xinzhou Shipbuilding, a private enterprise established in August 2014, enjoys a unique geographical location with favorable natural conditions and extensive maritime access. The company occupies a site area of 200,000 square meters, with a current building area of 20,000 square meters and a coastline usage line of 510 meters. It possesses three 50,000-ton slipways and four 35,000-ton slipways.
