COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore has selected TMC Compressors to supply a high-efficiency marine compressed air system for the Wind Ace, a new jack-up wind farm installation vessel being built for Cadeler.
The order, whose value remains undisclosed, covers TMC’s frequency-controlled Smart Air compressors for control and service air applications.
The system is designed to adjust motor speed in real time based on air demand, significantly reducing energy consumption. TMC claims it is one of the most energy-efficient compressor systems currently available in the marine market.
The Wind Ace, under construction at COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore in China, is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2026. It is capable of switching between foundation installation and wind turbine generator installation roles with minimal downtime.
Cadeler’s A-class vessel will feature 5,600 m² of deck space and a payload exceeding 17,600 tons. It is designed to transport and install up to seven 15MW wind turbines or six sets of XXL monopile foundations per trip, reducing transit requirements and increasing project efficiency. Main crane capacity details have not yet been released.
Cadeler, a dedicated offshore wind installation and service company, emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. TMC Compressors, based in Oslo, specializes in marine and offshore compressed air systems.
