Zhejiang Yongxin Shipping recently signed a new shipbuilding contract with Türkiye’s Stella Gemi for three 7,300 DWT chemical tankers, with the first vessel expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2027.
This vessel is a brand-new design jointly developed by Milestone International Shipbuilding Development (Taizhou) Co., Ltd.—a subsidiary of Turkey’s YAF GROUP—in collaboration with Shanghai Chizhou Shipbuilding Technology, incorporating feedback from the shipowner.
Compared to vessels of similar class, this vessel features a high loading capacity, relatively low propulsion power, and fuel consumption savings exceeding 8.5%. It meets the requirements of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase III and prepares for the upcoming carbon tax policies in Europe and the United States.
It is understood that after the project officially takes effect, the Milestone International Shipbuilding Development (Taizhou) supervision team will accompany the progress of the project throughout the entire process until the successful delivery of the vessel. Turkey’s YAF GROUP will then take over the vessel’s warranty and after-sales services, ensuring comprehensive lifecycle support for the vessel.
Zhejiang Yongxin Shipping, was established on December 06, 2022 with a 50million RMB registered capital, located in the coastal industrial city of Sanmen County, the east coast of Zhejiang Province.
The factory divides production and living areas, 482 mu(about 320 000m2) of production area and 120 mu(about 80 000m2) of living area, and 940 meters of shoreline. Total investment of shipyard will be 650 million RMB, and plans to build one 100,000dwt class slipway, and three 50 000dwt class slipways and one outfitting wharf. At present, there are three slipways of 350m×36m with a 200 ton crane, one 100,000 dwt class slipway with a 350ton crane are ready. 13000m2 of CNC cutting workshop , 5000m2 of coating workshop , 5000m2 of electric pipe processing workshop , 5000m2 of warehouse, office, residential and other rooms will be completed this year. The completion shipyard will meet the requirement of annual production capacity of 300,000 tons.
Stella Gemi is a Turkish tanker management company headquartered in Turkey. Currently, its fleet consists solely of one owned vessel: the 9,087 DWT chemical tanker “Unda” (built in 2009), constructed by Zhejiang Taithong Shipbuilding.
