On August 6, Fujian Funing Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group (Fujian Shipbuilding), kicked off construction of two 12,000 DWT self-propelled dcek cargo vessels (hull numbers: MW716-6/8). On the same day, Fujian Funing Shipbuilding Heavy Industry successfully laid keel for another 12,000 DWT self-propelled dcek cargo vessel (hull number: MW716-2) in the same series.
This vessel is 119.9 meters long, 30 meters wide, 7.15 meters deep, with a designed and maximum draft of 4.96 meters. It has a crew of 16, a service speed of 10.3 knots and a maximum unladen weight of approximately 12,200 tons.
Classed by China Classification Society (CCS), the vessel is designed for unlimited navigation areas and primarily transports bulk cargoes including bauxite, iron ore lumps, iron ore fines, coal, sand, and general breakbulk commodities.
