CSSC’s SDARI Completes FEED for World-Class LCO₂ Carrier

Recently, a ceremony was held for the 62,000 cubic meter liquid carbon dioxide carrier (LCO₂ carrier) with front-end engineering design (FEED) undertaken by SDARI (Shanghai Ship Design and Research Institute) of CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation) in Malaysia for the issuance of the GASA (General Arrangement and Systems Approval) certificate for practical ship application.

The vessel was designed by SDARI for Petronas CCS Ventures (PCCSV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Petronas, MISC Berhad and Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), and reviewed by DNV. It is one of the most advanced low-pressure large-scale LCO₂ carrier designs in the industry. With the establishment of Jules Nautica Sdn. Bhd, a joint venture between the three shipowners, and the completion of the front-end engineering design of the LCO₂ carrier, the project will enter the construction and operation preparation stage.

With its rich experience and excellent design capabilities, SDARI provided a complete technical solution and provided PCCSV, MISC Berhad and MOL with comprehensive technical support and guarantees.

In close cooperation with the three shipowners, SDARI actively participated in project discussions and exchanges, continuously optimized the design plan, applied the latest research results to the project, and built an internationally competitive LCO₂ carrier.
