On May 26, CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard held a naming and delivery ceremony for the second ship (H2701) in the series of large Mark III Flex membrane LNG carriers built for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). The vessel was named “AL RAHBA”.
This series of vessels is the first generation of 175,000 m3 MARK III Flex membrane LNG carriers (“LNG JUMBO”) independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipyard, with an overall length of 298.5 meters, a beam of 46.0 meters, and a cargo capacity of 175,000 m3. The vessel adopts MARK Ⅲ Flex membrane type containment system, and the evaporation rate is controlled below 0.085%, which meets the latest specification rules.
The vessel’s owner, ADNOC Logistics & Services, is an Abu Dhabi-based global energy maritime logistics company listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. ADNOC L&S has three business segments – integrated logistics, shipping and marine services. ADNOC L&S’s principal subsidiaries include Zakher Marine International Holdings (100% owned), an owner and operator of offshore supply vessels, and Navig8 (80% owned), a global shipowner and commercial operating pool that provides bunkering and ship management solutions.
Prior to the delivery of the second vessel “AL RAHBA”, the first vessel of the series (H2700) “AL SHELILA” has completed five voyages since its delivery last year.
The third large Mark III Flex membrane LNG carrier is undergoing a “three-in-one” sea trial, with a total of 187 test items, including 129 gas test items, 58 conventional test items and 69 detailed test items. At present, all items have been basically completed and the overall situation is good. It will return at the end of the month.
On the same day, the fourth H2703 vessel was launched. Based on the construction experience of the former vessels, a special planning program was formulated around two main lines of work: engine room construction in the docking stage and installation test of the integrity of the containment system, and the vessel made new breakthroughs in engineering, quality and other aspects.
In addition, the fifth H2704 vessel will soon be laid keel to start the dry docking phase.
At present, Jiangnan Shipyard has stepped into a brand new stage in the construction of large LNG carriers, and has successfully built up a solid capability of independent design and batch construction. With its excellent quality and efficient delivery, Jiangnan Shipyard has won high recognition from ADNOC and significantly improved its market competitiveness.
