On June 3, during the Poseidon 2026 International Maritime Exhibition, CSSC Guangzhou Shipyard International, together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), signed a contract with Pleiades Shipping, a long-established Greek shipowner, for two 50,000 DWT oil tankers.
In recent years, the global shipping industry has accelerated its transformation towards low fuel consumption, low carbon, and zero carbon emissions, leading to a continuous increase in international shipowners’ demand for environmentally friendly and energy-efficient vessels. Leveraging its years of technological accumulation in the handysize tanker sector, Guangzhou Shipyard International has developed 50,000 DWT tankers with excellent energy-saving and environmental protection performance and intelligent operation capabilities, perfectly aligning with the current trend of green transformation in the international shipping industry.
This signing of a cooperation agreement is a full affirmation by Pleiades Shipping of the product quality and excellent service of Guangzhou Shipyard International.
As of now, Guangzhou Shipyard International has a total order backlog of over 70 tankers, with nearly 30 new tanker orders signed in 2026 alone, indicating a robust order reserve.
