Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Commences Construction of Final 11,000 TEU Container Ship for RCL

On March 23, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), commenced construction on the fourth vessel in a series of 11,000 TEU container ships for RCL.

The 11,000 TEU container ship is the last vessel in the 11,000 TEU container ship series jointly developed by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and RCL. It is a new generation of green and environmentally friendly large container ship independently developed and designed by the company, optimized from its independently developed 7,000 TEU container ship design.

This type of vessel can carry more cargo, maximizes dock utilization, and also offers advantages such as flexible route planning, energy conservation, and environmental protection. It meets the International Maritime Organization Tier III emission standards, and its energy efficiency index reaches EEDI Phase III.

The successful groundbreaking of this vessel not only marks the final stretch of the joint project but also serves as a testament to the long-standing strategic partnership between Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and RCL.
