China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Lays Keels for Three New LNG Carriers in Single Day

On October 14, following China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s completion of the launching of three vessels, the shipbuilder simultaneously achieved the keel laying milestone of three 174,000 cbm large LNG carriers at its new yard No. 2 Dock and western yard Area No. 2 Dock on the same day. The three vessels are the 6th vessel (H1795A) for the KA Energy project, the final vessel (H1897A) for the Petronas project, and the 4th vessel (H1889A) for CNOOC Phase II project.

The shipowner’s on-site manager of the supervision team, ABS on-site manager Zhu Jianfu, CCS project manager Wang Haixiong, the company’s LNG deputy chief constructor Huang Huabing and other leaders and guests attended the ceremony of the H1795A, the sixth vessel of the Ka Energy project.

Mr. Tomofumi Higono, General Manager of Kawasaki Kisen (China) Co., Ltd., Koji Okawara, On-site Manager of the Shipowner’s Supervision Team, Mr. Zhao Zhenyu, Project Manager of DNV Classification Society, and Huang Huabing, Deputy Chief Constructor of LNG Vessels of the company, together with other leaders and guests, attended the ceremony of H1897A, the final vessel of the Petronas project.

Cao Huanan, LNG Technical Director of China Region of NYK Line (China) Co., Ltd., FUKUNAGA Keita, Head of the Shipowner’s On-site Supervision Team, Lu Zhenyu, On-site Manager of Lloyd’s Register, Chen Zhifei, On-site Manager of China Classification Society, Zhang Shaoying, Deputy Chief Constructor of LNG of the company, and other leaders and guests attended the ceremony of H1889A, the fourth vessel of CNOOC Phase II Project.

The simultaneous keel laying of three vessels on the same day marks Hudong-Zhonghua’s continuous improvement in the construction speed of LNG carriers. The company is committed to building more efficient and clean marine equipment for the global energy transition, and contributing more to national energy security and the development of the shipbuilding industry.
