Hengli Heavy Industries Launches Two VLCCs and a Bulker in Single Event

On September 23, Hengli Heavy Industries successfully completed the construction of two 306,000 DWT Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) and one 181,000 DWT bulk carrier in its dry dock. All three vessels were launched on the same day. This simultaneous launch of three vessels marks the first multi-vessel launch operation at Hengli Heavy Industries’ No. 1 Dry Dock since its expansion and upgrade.

With the goal of becoming world-class, Hengli Heavy Industries has continuously upgraded its facilities and equipment beyond existing standards. Among these, No. 1 Dry Dock has been expanded from 480 meters to 741 meters in length, making it the world’s largest. The installation of two new 1,200-ton gantry cranes has boosted the dock’s overall assembly and loading capacity to unprecedented levels, significantly enhancing its efficiency in assembling large blocks.

In June this year, Hengli Heavy Industries successfully delivered its first VLCC. Three months later, the shipbuilder welcomed the launching of another two VLCCs. The subsequent three vessels will commence underwater operations, making final preparations for high-quality sea trials and delivery.
