CIMC Raffles delivers Scarabeo 5 Congo LNG FPU in Yantai on August 27, 2025, which is its another cutting-edge practice in the green energy sector and signifies a positive breakthrough in its “Oil-to-Gas” strategy.
CIMC Raffles has fully demonstrated its comprehensive capability in providing customers with “One Yard Solution”. Both end user ENI and contractor Saipem expressed their high recognition of the project. The FPU will be deployed at offshore field Néné of the Republic of the Congo. It will process natural gas from the Néné, Minsala, and Nkala wellhead platforms. The processed gas will then be transported via pipeline to the Marine XII FLNG facility for liquefaction, while crude oil and associated resources will be routed by the Kitina processing center.
The FPU is equipped with 3+1 dual-fuel main generators with total power of 13.5 Megawatts. It has the capacity to process 12.5 million standard cubic meters of natural gas and 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day. “Modular Construction” was adopted, and the project can achieve efficient development of LNG from marginal gas fields with industry-leading schedule and cost efficiency. This provides a new approach for developing small to medium-sized and marginal gas fields, and a significant demonstration and reference for the efficient utilization of global LNG resources, particularly natural gas resources in Africa.
CIMC Raffles implemented its innovative process of moving the entire semi-submersible platform ashore for construction, which was equivalent to starting dock construction four months ahead. This technical breakthrough displayed CIMC Raffles exceptional capabilities in the independent design and project management of high-end offshore units.
CIMC Raffles and Saipem have successfully collaborated on projects including the pipelay vessel Castorone, the sixth-generation semi-submersible drilling rig Scarabeo 9, and the leasing of jack-up drilling rigs. CIMC Raffles has also achieved substantial results with ENI in FPSO topside modules and front-end engineering design. This delivery not only consolidates mutual trust among parties, but also lays a solid foundation for CIMC Raffles to expand into the international clean energy market and provide full life-cycle value-added services.
CIMC Raffles will step forward firmly with the drive of innovation and responsibility, and contribute to global clean energy development and the low-carbon transition.
