Recently, Dongfang Honghua successfully undertook the national key scientific research equipment research vessel construction project, and was fully responsible for the hull construction and key equipment supply. This major breakthrough marks that Dongfang Honghua has successfully entered the field of high-end research vessel construction, bring new impetus into the development of China’s marine scientific research.
It is understood that the research vessel is designed with a gross tonnage of 7,500 tons, a range of more than 17,500 nautical miles, and it can carry 90 personnel to carry out operations. As an internationally advanced deep-sea, ocean-going multifunctional scientific research vessel, after its completion it will focus on cutting-edge deep-sea scientific research and the development and application of high-tech equipment, and undertake major national scientific research tasks.
This project is deeply in line with the national strategy to strengthen the country’s oceans and will significantly enhance China’s marine science and technology independent innovation capacity and comprehensive competitiveness.
Previously, Dongfang Honghua was deeply involved in the development of the deep-ocean drilling vessel “Dream”, providing key equipment support and core technology for China’s first ultra-deepwater oceanographic drilling vessel “Dream”, which demonstrated the strong strength and domestic substitution capability of the development of offshore equipment towards intellectualization, integration and branding.
In recent years, relying on the offshore equipment manufacturing base in Qidong, Jiangsu, Dongfang Honghua has specialized in three major marine business sectors: offshore wind, offshore engineering and offshore oil.
Through technological innovation, market expansion and capacity upgrade, Dongfang Honghua’s offshore wind industry has achieved continuous breakthroughs, with high market share and efficient output delivery as its notable features. Its manufacturing capacity in the offshore engineering industry has also been comprehensively improved, and it has successively undertaken key projects such as emergency firefighting vessels, scientific research vessels, and offshore construction vessels.
In addition, in the offshore oil industry, Dongfang Honghua continues to expand the unlimited possibilities of deep-sea oil and gas development by relying on the innovative upgrade of modular design and intelligent control systems.
