Hengli Heavy Industries’ First Independently Developed 306,000 DWT VLCC Completes Sea Trials

On May 29, the first 306,000 DWT very large crude carrier (VLCC) independently developed and designed by Hengli Heavy Industries successfully completed all sea trials.

It is understood that the VLCC is independently developed and designed by Hengli Heavy Industries Ship Design and Research Center. The vessel measures 332.8 meters in overall length, 60 meters in beam, 30 meters in depth, 14.5 knots in speed, classified by Lloyd’s Register of Shipping (LR), and is characterized by fast speed, light empty weight, low energy consumption and other notable features.

The successful sea trial of the first VLCC marks a key step of Hengli Heavy Industries in the field of R&D and construction of ultra-large vessels.
